Things That Made Me Cry This Week
Let’s normalize emotions.
Here’s a list of things that made me cry this week:
Trees
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and now I live in California. While Cali has trees, to me they look more like glorified shrubs. Plus, half the year they’re completely naked.
We drove up to Oregon this week and, just like every time we come back, as soon as we’re north of Grants Pass along I-5 I start bawling because I am so happy to see trees, real trees, again.
If I’m being completely honest, I cried over these trees three times this week.
The outcome of Breonna Taylor’s murder trial
I still have nothing to say on this one. And I’m still crying about it. Photo from @blm Instagram.
Rain
Again, totally an Oregonian thing, but it rained our first full day in Portland and I cried. This was more because I realized I was going to have to leave the clouds and the rain in a few days and I already began to miss it.

The passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg
I didn’t realize how much my emotions were wrapped up in women in the media until this. It broke my heart to hear that her dying wish was to not be replaced until after the election. I hope we can do right by you, RBG. Thank you for everything you did for us.
